Great portable vacuumMy family has had one portable "Dust Buster" vacuum or another for as long as I can remember. And with the exception of the one that my cousin Tony gave us as a wedding present back in the 80s, they've all been horrible. (That first one was the only one that lasted very long and had any power.)
So along comes this Bissell portable "stick" vacuum... This thing rocks! Why do I love it? Because it isn't a weak battery operated handheld vac. It has a beefy power cord and a lot of power.
We've owned this vac for a week now and we've already used it nearly every day. It's great for picking up the dirt and dust bunnies that the dog tracks in. My kids use it to tidy up in the bathroom near the cats' boxes. I used it to clean out our ovens after I baked 30 loaves of bread for a bake sale. Using the little crevice attachment, I was able to get all of the built-up flour out of all of the nooks and crannies in our oven. It worked great!!! It doesn't bother me at...

For Very Light Housekeeping, an Excellent, Bargain-Priced VacFor very light housekeeping (e.g., a dorm room, a studio apartment), this bargain-priced BISSELL 3106L vacuum is an excellent choice. It's extremely lightweight, and requires very little storage space. The electrical cord means there's no need for a charging stand, and the vac is always ready when you need it for a quick cleanup.
A great feature is that the motor, cord, and dirt container release easily from the long handle, so that the floor vacuum is instantly converted to a hand vacuum! The hand vacuum can be used with or without the removable floor nozzle, which makes it good for cleaning both upholstery and dry-ingredient spills. (This vac should NOT be used to clean up wet surfaces of any kind.) All of the parts snap together and apart with ease, and the dirt container is easy to empty. The filter and the dirt container are washable, and there are no bags to buy. Another nice feature is the included crevice tool.

Adequate performance in search of a nicheThis vacuum can be used as a handheld, or as a small upright with the quick-connect handle. A plug-in, it seems to have a bit more power than my battery-powered handheld. I had used the latter to clean up a repair job a few days before receiving this vacuum; this vacuum picked up what the handheld hadn't.
The Bissell also works nicely around the legs of a table, and for getting into corners. In general, it is light and easy to maneuver. On the other hand, it has a cord you need to unwrap prior to use, then wrap again after use. I already have three other vacuums with that feature, and in many cases one of those will be a better choice for the job.
Whether or not this Bissell works for you may come down to what vacuums you already have, and how often a small, lightweight choice fills your need. The price is attractive, and the performance beats your typical rechargeable handheld.
