1st Customer Review : aka the Oreck XL Pro Plus II at Costco: so much to like, yet...
My review is for the Oreck XL Pro Plus II from Costco. According to "best vacuum reviews dotcom", Costco's XL Pro Plus II model is identical to Target's Signature Plus II, and Oreck Direct's Element and XL Classic.
I furiously researched my first vac 15 years ago, a Sharp 12TW series upright that was library quiet and did a great job in a very basic package. It needed only a few minor do-it-yourself repairs over the years (parts off the internet), and in general my only complaints were the short cord and short hose. The motor finally quit and I figured it was time for a new unit. I'm wishing now I had a little more than my BlackBerry to research this purchase in the aisles of Costco, although, to be fair, the Costco.com user reviews are mostly stellar for this vacuum.
Let's talk about the good points:
+ The Oreck was extremely easy to assemble out of the box. Remove two screws and a plastic pull-tab, insert the handle, and re-install the two screws. Ready...

2nd Customer Review : Oreck XL SIgnature II - SUCKS in a GOOD WAY!
I purchased the Oreck XL Signature II From Oreck, b/c it was on sale, with the handheld attachment vac, as well as the car vac.
This is a great upright. It really cleans deep and well, carpet and floor. One button, one speed, all you need. Goes from carpet to floor without having to push any other buttons. It really does the job. I have a lot of pets and it really gets the hair out of the carpet, I don't have to vacuum twice a day anymore, but I have to say that I enjoy vacuuming, so I still do it twice a day. I find it very lightweight, which is great because I have a bad back and nerve damage.
The handheld vac can be strapped on like one of those messenger bags. Again, it's got great attachments, great suction and is lightweight. The cords on both the upright and the handheld are extremely long, so I don't have to unplug anything. I can vacuum my entire ranch being plugged into one outlet. Stellar!! Epic!!

3rd Customer Review : Liking it
Have had the Oreck for a few weeks now. Liking it very much. I have had many many vacuums over the years, most were okay. But as I get older I am finding it difficult to push the vacuums through out my home. This is light weight, fairly easy to move around and picks up the dog hair. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that I find when I am finished, putting the handle back to upright position is a little cumbersome, but I can deal with that.
