1st Customer Review : + ? *: Good suction and lighter weight but somewhat whiny with poor exhaust
This handheld vacuum has surprisingly strong suction for such a lightweight package. This has a lot to do with the Li-Ion battery pack. It is small and light compared to lead acid and NiMH chemistries. It is also helps the vacuum's balance, which might help make it feel lighter than it really is.
Compared to our other hand vacuum, the Black & Decker FHV1200 Flex Vac Cordless Ultra-Compact Vacuum Cleaner, this is a lighter and quicker vacuum for small cleaning jobs. The FHV1200 has a detachable hose and is better suited for larger jobs. This model may be faster to use for quick grab and go jobs. Emptying the dust bin is also fast and easy with this vacuum. It just requires releasing the collector and then removing the filter. I used this vacuum to clean up some grout dust and was surprised to see how much this collected.

2nd Customer Review : My dream come true!
I have four kids, a husband, and six indoor pets. My house is not usually in showplace condition, and usually I consider dust to be a noun and not a verb. I struggle to keep the house in reasonably clean condition. I don't have time to spend hours every day cleaning. That's why it is so important to me to have reliable cleaning products that do what they need to do without too much fuss. Our home has more tile and hardwoods than carpet, and my stand-up Oreck does a fair job of keeping the carpets and area rugs presentable. The black and decker Platinum, however, is much easier to grab for quick clean-ups in problem areas- where Mr. Bunny knocked shavings out of his cage, the stairwell that accumulates giant dust mammoths, and in the kitchen after the kids have been baking. I LOVE this cordless vac! I have had several others, but this one just rocks. Here's why:
1.it has no cord to get in my way
2.it recharges quickly
3.it is light and easy to carry around...
3rd Customer Review : Good for small tasks
This is the first vacuum (of its kind) that I've seen with 20 volt battery pack. I charged it for about 4 hrs and it showed to be fully charged. I was able to get maybe 15 minutes out of it (I'm being generous)
I vacuumed my husband's truck and noticed that it sucked the little stones right up in no time! But it was having a harder time on the rugs with plain dirt.
I thought I had a defective vacuum because of the high pitch/piercing noise it makes. It literally made my ears ring after vacuuming the truck. I think that from now on, I'll be using earplugs myself. Maybe I indeed have a defective vacuum and the noise is extreme.
Overall, I was hoping for better suction on carpeted surfaces - works great on hard surfaces. And maybe a longer working time. I was expecting a better performance especially when the price is almost double compared to the 18 volt vacuum of its kind.
