With a husband, a 2 year old boy, 3 cats and after dropping my quarterly carpet cleaning contract with a local company, it was time to buy a carpet cleaning machine. After doing several days of researching and shopping, I decided to buy the Hoover Agility from Wal*Mart for about $185. My husband told me that I wasted our money, well....he was wrong!!!! After thoroughly vacuuming my carpets, I cleaned out my bagless Hoover Wind Tunnel, and as usual, the bagless cannister was full of cat hair, dust, and dirt. I then proceeded to clean the carpets in my house. The water was disgustingly dirty, almost black!!! After allowing the carpets to dry, I vacuumed my carpets to remove any 'shading'. I was completely amazed!!! The only thing that my vacuum cleaner picked up was a small amount of loose carpet fibers!!! Yes, just carpet fibers!!!

2nd Customer Review : Everyone wants to use it!
We'd been using a Kenmore canister carpet cleaner a couple times a year for 12 years- a gift from my dad along with a puppy. Well, the dog is 12 years old now and doing fine. The carpet cleaner has been iffy about working and finally broke tonight. We quickly did research on the internet and decided that a Hoover was the one to get. At 10pm we drove down to the local Wal-mart to look at the two Hoover models that were there. We decided on the Agility because of the hand held power brush attachment. Since the downstairs was all prepped (furniture moved and carpet vacuumed) we opened the box and got started. It was truly ready to go right out of the box.

I have never used carpet cleaner soap and I ran across a review that mentioned it wasn't necessary and any soap residue left in the carpet can attract more dirt. Don't hesitate to try plain water yourself. You will still have a muddy filled collection tank.

3rd Customer Review : Cleans so well, it will make you hate your regular vacuum!!
I have always considered myself to be a clean person, thanks to the OCD I inherited from my father. With three small children and two dogs, I clean constantly, vacuum daily, scrub the kitchen and bathroom floors on my hands and knees. Suffice it to say, I thought my house was pretty clean.

Most of the carpet in our home is fairly new, ranging from a few months old to just over a year old, all of which is very light in color. We have a very nice, high-end bagless upright vacuum cleaner (I won't mention any names) which I use and empty every day... I swear!! With three kids and two dogs, wouldn't you?? 1st Customer Review : Beats anything under this price range
About me: I have had a few cats over the years and recently one of them who has now passed away was over 19 years old, had kidney disease and started urinating anywhere an everywhere throughout the home where she pleased. Also, I have a mobile automotive detailing business which I also use this unit for.

First, let me start out by saying I've been through two non commercial use Hoover carpet cleaners and one bissel. On the bissel, the Jose broke on the second use and leaked everywhere. (the hoses were really stiff), it was a waste of 180.00. I returned it and turned to Hoover, the first of the two was a max extract model, after a couple of uses it got stuck in the spray position, soaking my carpeting beyond belief and I had to go over the entire carpet with my wet/dry shop vac. I returned it for a lesser expensive model Hoover and it did the same thing in my bedroom. I returned it and vowed to myself never to buy a Hoover or bissel again.

2nd Customer Review : A pleasant surprise for a 4 dog family
We have 4 large dogs and a large wooded back yard, needless to say our carpets can look hideous at times. Having someone come in to do clean our carpets is just not workable, it would create to much chaos. We had a standard Hoover Steam cleaner for years, but it was a loosing battle. This is the type of job that requires a tough machine, so we decided to bite the bullet and go big and get the Rug Doctor.

I can't say how surprised we were from the very first cleaning line we did....we felt like we were in the commercial, it worked wonders! What used to take me an entire day to clean took me only 2 1/2 hours and it left no more of a damp footprint than our Hover did.

The machine itself is basic, no more now less - no fancy bells or whistles, but for a serious job this is the machine for us. The only downside is it doesn't come with the hose for tight corners that's extra - of course.

CONS:
- It consume water quickly if you move slowly (my carpet was so dirty).
- It's kind of pricey but I knew the cost would pay for its self in no time compare to rental savings.

1st Customer Review : Does the Job at a Nice Price
My decision to purchase this was mostly on price and gauging its ease of use.

Since renting one from the market is around $50 including shampoo, my thinking was this was an appropriate price to pay for this since after three cleanings, it's yours plus you don't have to return anything.

The other factor is ease of use. This is pretty straightforward. The top container holds the clean water and shampoo. After using, the "sucked up" dirty water is in the container at the bottom.

The Hoover here is nice in that both snap in and out pretty easily.

There are some things to keep in mind.

Try to use near boiling hot water (or a mixture of near boiling water and hot water from the faucet) - you will get a more efficent clean. Pour in the shampoo AFTER you put the water in the container - otherwise you'll get a slew of foam instead of being able to fill it with water to its highest level.

2nd Customer Review : GREAT INVESTMENT!
I was hesitant that this would be a worthwile purchase because hoover makes some pretty junky vacuums, however, after reading reviews decided to buy it! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I have had this cleaner for approximately 8 months and have used it several times already, and it is truly amazing for a few reasons.

1) It doesn't truly "steam" carpet - BUT if you put some boiling water in reservoir with detergent it does improve cleaning, but I have cleaned with regular hot tap water with good results too.

2) You will be disgusted, amazed, and pleased at how much dirt this thing gets out of your carpets. Secondly, it really fluffs it up with the 5 rotating brushes.

3) Works great on removing stains quickly (I have an almost 2 year old) so, juice, milk, throwup, you name it! etc. It cleans it out completely. Clean surge also helps.

4) In a couple of hours (or less) the carpet is really DRY!!!

This is great for about a year and a half, then it needs a lot of TLC.

First, you need to COMPLETELY clean out the collection chamber or it gets smelly. There are a lot of small corners, nooks and cranies that hold sediment in the collection chamber. They can't be reached with a toothbrush; you need a coat hanger with a rag wound around it. Also, if you have any pet hair or fluffy lint associated with your carpets, you'll need to disassemble the front part to get rid of the accumulation.

Suction is great until there is a year's worth of wear and tear. After about a year, the hose inside tore away from the fitting because there is insufficient 'slack' in the hose. THank goodness for duct tape. I'm now tired of retaping and am looking to purchase a new machine. (Not this one). Also, the accumulation as mentioned before seriously affects suction and its a nasty wet mess to take it all apart mid-cleaning.

The cap on the tank too is likely to lose its...

I was able to move a refrigerator (31dx36wx71h)alone, without risking either my back or my brand new hardwood floors. The Airsled moved the refrigerator over the cardboard pad, across 1" pile carpeting, across the brand new flooring, and into the cabinet space made for the refrigerator in five minutes; a distance of 20'~!
